Fantasy and Whimsy

I have always enjoyed fantasy fiction novels.  This has translated into enjoying painting pictures with a touch of fantasy and whimsy.   Many of the paintings are based on work done by Alida Akers as part of her “Storybook Cottage Series”.  Originals were done in watercolor.  Akers noted that the Series was “inspired by storybooks and vintage greeting cards. It depicts small red-roofed cottages that symbolize home and hearth and offer a peaceful respite from the outside world.”  Something we all likely need more of.
